Manage your energy not your time

Manage your energy not your time.

When our workloads increase, many of us decide to up our number of working hours. But harnessing moments of ‘unfocus’ might be the key to getting more done in less time.

Popular social media networks like Facebook and Instagram can lead to unhappiness.
  • A workplace study found an average working professional experiences 87 interruptions per day, making it difficult to remain productive and focused for a full day.
Every decision we make, no matter how small adds up and wears us down. That's why automation is key.
  • Mark Zuckerberg wears the same thing everyday apparently, to reduce Decision Fatigue (he does have more than one pair of socks I believe)
Don't confuse doing nothing with getting nothing done. “Getting the nothing done” is the reward for too much activity. I see “doing nothing” as the reward for getting results.
  • Warren Buffett organizes days in his calendar where nothing is scheduled.
Apparently, it's an approach that Bill Gates borrowed from the billionaire investor.
My strategy for beating decision fatigue revolves around automation and routine. I take out a lot of what’s unnecessary so I can leave energy for what’s important.
You should consider building your day around Keystone Habits. Successful writers like John Grisham use Deep Work to stay creative even when they're not feeling it.

My post was inspired by this article.
